On the road

Me and my trusted companion are once again heading on one of those planes for a short long-weekend trip.

image

The morning started way to early with my alarm going of at 4:30, amazing how much easier it is to get up when it isn’t work you are going to. I even made an earlier train for the airport than planned.

After getting a quick breakfast I tried out Copenhagen Airport’s new smoking area, best thing ever to bring back. And it had a view of my plane.

image

Now I’m sitting by my gate waiting to board eating my brekkie, trying to stay awake. Need to sleep, anything before 7am isn’t morning!

Good morning

The last morning has arrived and after a vacation with health sleep-ins all three girls set the alarm this morning to ensure I would make it on time. Mini Me Jr and Lady D were kind enough to drag themselves out of bed to walk me to the metro, much appreciated.
It went surprisingly (and worrying smooth) to get to the airport, and 30 second wait for the metro.

image

Then a delayed train meaning I made an earlier train to the airport than planned.

image

My flow continued at the airport except for the check-in, you know that feeling when all the other lines are moving faster than yours, painful.

image

The flow gave me an hour to waste at the airport, which I did by totally blowing my budget with a healthy serving of McDonald’s.

image

Now it’s time to find the gate and get on the plane to good old home.

Another lunch in the sun

Three girls getting ready take a while so after the coffee and home made juice, it was time for lunch. Today we walked to Placa del Sol with a fancy view;

image

And a quaint little place;

image

Where we might have gone a little nuts on the menu with some cod balls.

image

Hummus.

image

Tomato with mozzarella.

image

And then a mini burger each;

image

And that was just the starters, we finished of with some nachos and some kind of home made guacamole.

image

The service started out well then just went down hill! If you want a snack, go for it if you want fabulous food and service worth tipping, go some where else.

Since it’s still not the weekend here I’ve been attempting to help out Mini Me Jr with her maths, doing that while drinking wine (because I’m on vacation) isn’t going to great so now the smart and brilliant Lady D is here to help us both!

image

The day will continue my peeps, will let you know some other time what. Now! In to the fog!

Me and my trusted companion

Finally, the time is here for another trip! It’s an afternoon flight and those are annoying as I woke up before the alarm, sat and had my coffee, packed my bag, had a nice long shower, did the last of the dishes, threw out the garbage, exchanged money, and bought chocolate for mini-me Jr and still I was early.
I had planned with taking one train earlier than I had to, just in case! I ended up taking two trains earlier than that because I got bored being home.

image

Arriving at the airport way in time, having already checked in while on the train and in possession of a boarding pass on my phone, it was straight through security (US airports could learn some from the CPH airport, seriously efficient) with loads of time to spend. I went for the usual, and overpriced BLT and my “what I spoil myself with when in Denmark” magazine.

image

Now me and my trusted companion, the little backpack, and I are sitting at the gate waiting for our flight to Barcelona to start boarding.

Posted in The first day of the rest of my life

Lets hope for a better week

My last post was on the first of October when I was on my way to a fantastic trip to the big US of A. It was an amazing trip where I for some reason found no time to update the blog. Arriving home to a cold Sweden was no fun, especially not when I was welcomed home to a flat tire on the bike, an exam, crap weather, post-vacation blues and just a general feel of unhappiness.

I’ve been home for almost three weeks now, and it’s been the kind of weeks where it felt like the universe was against me. So yes, I’ve been attending a piety-party that it’s now time to leave for this time around. So tomorrow, there will be another first day of the rest of my life.

As the bike, not only the flat tire there were other things that needed to be fixed as well, made a big dent in my wallet I decided that it might be time to make another attempt to drop the little cancer sticks. As I was pondering the thought I received an email inviting me to take at of a test with quitting smoking with the help of daily text messages, so of course I signed up, thus tomorrow the day is the day.Cancer sticks

It’s not the first time I have tried, I have failed more times than I can count, some attempts have been more serious than others, this one is a serious one. Wish me luck.

What a week!!

Arriving home from Greece was no fun, leaving 35 degrees and sun for 15 degrees, rain and cold. Then on Monday my summer course started, Tuesday was back to work, Wednesday was work and school and then on Thursday it was exam time as I had to re-sit one of the exams from spring.

Last night it was celebration time;

image

Ok, so I didn’t drink all of them myself however I was still tired at work today. At least it was an early day in order for me to make it to my train, destination summerhouse! I’ve brought my computer hoping that I can finish the rest of the blog posts about the wonderful vacation in Greece, in addition to that I’m carrying loads of textbooks both for my summer course and the micro economic class that start in September. Let’s see how much I actually get done.

How’s your week been ma peeps?

Lindos – the village

One of my favorite parts of vacation, if it’s done correctly, is the breakfast and I have to say that our hotel has done an excellent job on their buffet.

image

After brekkie we headed to the pool and spent most of the day there, with food and drink breaks of course.

image

I also managed to complete book two for this vacation.

image

In the evening we headed to the village that we thought our hotel was at the bottom of, Lindos, this wasn’t the case as Lindos bay appears to be the bay before you reach the actual village.
Thus the assumption that we would be spending our time hanging out in Lindos was incorrect as instead we have to take a taxi to get there.
It’s not the worst thing that could happen as the place is totally overrun by and adapted for tourists, quite sad as it’s a real beauty.

After walking around for a bit we enjoyed a lovely dinner on one of the many roof restaurants, before heading back to the hotel in time to catch the end of the evening live entertainment.

Arrival

After a very comfortable plane ride, that included both extra legroom (pure luck) and food (bought and paid for), with s slight delay we arrived in Greece.

image

image

image

It took about an hour on the bus, that we were herded to like cattle – it is charter after all – before we made it to the hotel. A hotel that actually looked like it did on the pictures we saw when booking the trip, a pleasant surprise indeed. We quickly ditched our stuff at the room and went for lunch.

image

image

image

The rest of the afternoon was spent by the pool and I could take one of those fashionable feet on vacation pictures.

image

The evening, after an included buffet dinner, was spent infront of the exciting welcome show arranged by the hotels entertainment staff (at this point I’m getting Dirty Dancing vibes and are now in the midst of finding my very own Patrick Swayze) in the company of colourful drinks.

image

Long before going to bed I did finish the first book of the trip.

Why do vacations have to start so early in the morning?

It’s travel time again, this time it’s me and mother dearest that are flying to Greece, Rhodes to be more exactly. The morning started at 4:30 am with a quick jumping out of bed heading to the train session.
Surprisingly enough,  there was no issue with the train or check-in and as we reached security we got invited to the FastTrack, not sure if it was my beauty or mother dearests age that made the nice staff to take pithy on us.
After all that time, I finally got the first cup of coffee!

image

After a little bit of shopping we are now sitting at the gate waiting for the boarding to begin, boooring but required.

image

Hope you all have a fab Sunday ma peeps, think mine will be excellent.

The good times just keep on coming

After spending the whole day yesterday recovering it was time again today to get up and out to meet the loved ones. My sister with family is in town so we met in the park for some quality time and ice-cream!

image

image

After hugs and laugh and getting to give brother-in-law his birthday pressie (this year’s free catalog became a bottle or Japanese whiskey that he hadn’t tried before, whoop whoop) I had to and exchange some money for my first trip to Poland,  super excited about going to a new place that I haven’t been before.

Right now I should be home packing and getting ready for my 4:45am start tomorrow, it’s just that the weather is so freakin amazing so i just have to enjoy my favorite spot for a little while.

An unexpected vacation

Due to technical issues and vacation times at work, there wasn’t anything value adding for me tot there Thursday – Friday so instead of sitting there doing nothing, wasting my time and someone else’s money, I went on vacation.
It started with a trip up north to the city of Helsingborg and my lovely Lady D that finally have returned home from a far to long vacation. We sat in the park.

In her friends garden.

Down by the water.

image

Day two was spent in good old Denmark. The first half of the day l purposely left the phone behind, to get some phonefree time. The second part of the day the battery was dead. But not until I managed a picture of dinner and one of too many Irish coffees.

However it turned out to be a pretty fantastic evening, I was planning on heading home early and even told people the same. Then I found myself arriving home at 4 am after a proper catch-up session with Miss Paraguay (to be honest she did even try me to get a later train even then). Unplanned and unexpected time with good friends rocks, that’s until you realize that the whole Saturday has passed and when you log on to your bank on Sunday and check the dent in your bank account, there was still some left though 🙂

The road to four-day weekend

Originally I was planning to work until four or five and then get on the train to the summerhouse, I then realized that my nieces would most likely be in bed by the time I arrived. Thus as the loving auntie I am, I changed my plans and left the office by three to make the train at four. As usual I also posted my standard public service announcement;

image

Packing went a bit quicker than expected (still waiting to see what I forgot) so I had time for my standard routine before heading out; a quick stop at o’learys at the Centralstation.

image

image

image

Before getting on the train I walked around the station checking the menu at all the food places and the food counter in the kiosk, really wanting something to snack on, without finding anything I really wanted. So here is a lesson in totally blowing your budget, find some beersticks and a beer on the train and pay crazy prices for the same.
image

Settling in for the two hour trip it was decision time, be a good student or just chill. Guess what I decided!

image

There is one train switch on this trip, the smoothest switch ever as the trains arrive and depart from the same platform.

image

image

It was yet again a smooth ride and I’m starting to believe that the traingods might have forgiven me. And arriving to my destination I was very happy that I took the earlier train as not only my sister but also my two nieces were waiting for me on the platform. After hugging and kissing I received some flowers.

image

I was also ordered to sit in the back seat next to my youngest niece and as we arrived to the house I also received in writing that I am the world’s best auntie! And tacos, but we were all so hungry that the food was long gone before I even considered taking a pic.

image

Right now we are just waiting for the football to finish, then it’s of to bed so, god night ma peeps!

She went to Copenhagen!

It’s been a bit quiet this week, mainly because I went to Copenhagen for a mini vacation before school starts, just to catch up with people who I haven’t seen in a while. Da Teacher was nice enough to act as hotel, and she did a real good job at it, Miss Legal now have some competition for “The Best Hotel In Copenhagen” title.

There could also be more pictures, I’m still trying to stick with not taking pictures of everything I eat and do, instead I’m trying to enjoy the moment, so some random pictures are included – enjoy!

The adventure started on Tuesday where I met up at the old After-work beer place for a couple of cold ones with the old after-work crowd, to then head to one of all the big nice parks in Copenhagen. Not for a quiet afternoon but to cheer the brave runners in the DHL race on. This is a yearly event that I actually participated in last year, 5k running in front and together with all your co-workers and other people’s co-workers. After cheering a little bit there, me and Da Teacher had some us time before she hit the sack and I moved on, ending up meeting a Scottish guy that is now unfortunately back in Scotland, however we are still e-mailing with each other, how knows!People running (4)

Day two meant me sleeping in a bit, hanging out a bit at Da Teachers place (unfortunately she had to do something called working) before heading back to the park to cheer on a former colleague. I couldn’t stay that long since Miss Legal had the decency to have her birthday the week I was around, so we could meet up for dinner together with her boyfriend. In celebration of us meeting each other six years ago over pink drinks, we also had to have one of those (I promise, it’s pink!)Pink drink

Day three, guess what! I slept late, hanging out at the hotel for a bit before heading back to the park! This day it was my old company running, so I got to chat with plenty of my old colleagues. It’s nice for your ego to hear how missed you are because you did such a good job! It was also a good way of meeting loads of them, it’s impossible to squeeze all of them in just five days.

Day four, not that much sleeping in, depending on what you compare with, as I was meeting Miss Paraguay for lunch. It was nice to have a little sit down. Then the plan was to find a cafe, have a coffee, read my book and just enjoy being in Copenhagen. Smart me, of course forgot the book at home and simply just returned there while waiting for Da Teacher to finish work so we could meet up for another session. This session ended in a possible return to my old quiz mistress career. There was some so maybe not politically correct pictures taken of me. An art opening where I fell madly in love with a painting that with my current status can not for the life of me afford. Another dinner again with Miss Legal and her boyfriend (that’s twice in one week, awesome) that unfortunately made me blow my Copenhagen budget, before heading home to crash.Candle

Saturday and day five started with me being a tad bit spoilt as apparently the hotel come with weekend breakfast served. Then there was chill time with pizza before the time had come for me to return home.Brekkie

And awesome week with good friends and just fun times. Today is spent recovering and preparing for tomorrow, school is starting and I’m quitting smoking – both take some planning and mental preparation, and yes there is also a job interview in the afternoon.
